Grand Teton Nation Park
Grand Teton and Surrounding Areas During a Lush Summer
Grand Teton National Park is like a second home to me, in fact I'm more at home there than at home. My Maternal grandparents are both from Teton Valley, one from the Jackson side, the other from the Idaho (Victor) side. I spent a lot of time in my youth in both Jackson and Victor, visiting family and seeing the sites.
The barn pictured above was built by Thomas Alma Moulton, my great-grandfather. It is on an area of Grand Teton National park known as Mormon Row. Built in the early 1900's and eventually signed over to the national park service when Grand Teton was created. I have worked twice with the park service to renovate and preserve the barn including replacing the roof in 2006. Also pictured from this trip in 2018 is Devil's Gate, which during the great migration in the mid-1800's was referred to as the gateway to the Rockies, and was also near Martin's cove, a site that was part of an incredible story of perseverence and rescue of the pioneers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My ancestors were among those who were rescued when an early snow storm caught these pioneers unprepared for the harsh conditions.
